Mike H. knew he needed to make a change in his life when his Mom passed away in 2021. After trying a couple of other residential treatment facilities, Mike came to FreedomWorks and began treatment with NuWay. Mike’s goal was not only to get clean and sober, but to get to know God. Mike has now graduated from NuWay in November and has also completed a Dakota County Technical College Continuing Education program through Twin Cities Rise in December.

While Mike was doing all of this, he was also volunteering with the Bread of Life Food Shelf and JailBreakers. Mike says he “hopes he can change other people’s lives” by volunteering. Mike has been known to do everything from stocking shelves to peeling apples; anything he can do that helps another person.

Now Mike is serving in a new way, he is an Intern on the Program Team at FreedomWorks. On his first day he volunteered to help at the FreedomWorks table at 3000 Acts of Kindness; an event that helps to connect people experiencing homelessness with resources. Mike spent the day sharing what FreedomWorks has to offer and encouraging others to do what he did. Come to FreedomWorks to change their lives!
