A place of Rest

Jul 5, 2022

In May, Bonnie and four other Master Gardeners started a garden with our participants.  Below, Bonnie shares how gardening has impacted her and what she hopes to share with the 8 participants in the program.

“I have always loved gardening since I was a young child working alongside both my grandmothers. I marveled at how an entire plant can grow from one tiny seed! I believe gardening has wonderful spiritual and therapeutic benefits. I am truly in awe when I am outside amidst the plants with their unique and diverse designs created by God! Being outside in the fresh air, surrounded by green, and the touch and aroma of the plants lifts my soul. My garden is my respite quiet place…it is a wonderful place for quiet time, praise, reflection and prayer with Christ.  It has been wonderful to share this respite with the participants at FreedomWorks and to give them an opportunity to learn the life skill of planning, planting, tending and harvesting a garden.  Hopefully they too experience and enjoy all the benefits of being in a garden…growing their own nutritious food and being in awe of God’s creation.  —- Bonnie
