“Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I. Send me!” – Isaiah 6:8
Please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Sheldon Desmond. I am the Volunteer Engagement Specialist at FreedomWorks. My calling is to organize, empower and deploy the FreedomWorks participants and volunteer base for building God’s Kingdom at both of our N Mpls campuses. I also manage the ministries Bread of Life food shelf and work closely with our church and community partners for advancing our mission to “Reconcile participants to God, Family and Community”.
Every day I find myself reflecting on the above scripture, “Lord here I am, send me”. Whether I am coordinating building projects or leading teams serving in our weekly food outreaches, I am Blessed to be a part of cultivating an environment that guides our participants closer to Christ. One of the most rewarding aspects of my role is witnessing participants move from a mindset of self-serving, to gaining a heart to serve others.
If you, your church, or possibly others in your network would like to be a part of making a difference in the lives of those breaking the cycle of incarceration and addiction, please do not hesitate to email me at: sheldon@myfreedomworks.com or call me direct at 612-449-8833.
